ADJUST THE SAILS

“We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sails.” – Chinese fortune cookie

Saving the tiny slip of paper from the fortune cookie for future consideration, I immediately saw this as a reminder from God. The winds of the storms of our lives blow hard at times. Often we feel like small sail boats tossed in the midst of a dark, raging sea, holding on for dear life.
Oh that we could see our way clear to turn our sails and our eyes upon Jesus before we find ourselves in the midst of the storm! Our Savior calmed the sea and walked on water. True, we have no ability to direct the wind, and we will face times of trials and discouragement, but we have hope and promise in Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who calms the sea and walks on water, help us turn our sails toward You before we find ourselves in the eye of the storm.

Just think . . . .Do you need to adjust your sails?

The Winds of Fate
by
Ella Wheeler Wilcox

One ship drives east and another drives west
With the self-same winds that blow;
‘Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
That tells them the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the winds of fate
As we voyage along through life;
‘Tis the set of the soul
That decides its goal
And not the calm or the strife.
